OUR STORY

Welcome to The Lavender Library. An independent LGBTQ bookstore founded and owned by a lesbian couple.

We met on BookTok, sharing a mutual love for sapphic stories and finding community online. Our friendship turned to romance, which ignited a passion for wanting to do more. We quickly discovered that as much as we love queer stories, access and promotion was failing our community. We grew tired of entering stores and finding only 5% of books being LGBTQ in some way. Dive deeper and you will quickly realise that those books lucky enough to make it into mainstream stores always represent the same people.

We wanted to create something that not only made accessing queer stories easier, but also widened representation so all of the community could see themselves. A safe place and home for each and everyone of us.
